Forums >>  Debuggers  >>  New Linux Debugger Released

Topic created on: November 16, 2006 12:50 CST by proxy .

Not sure how many of you are linux guys, but one of my projects has been to develop a debugger for Linux (and eventually other *nix platforms) with the usability and extendability of OllyDbg.

So if you are interested, please give it a try and let me know what you think :)

Just keep in mind this is a pre-1.0 release so it will have bugs and incomplete features, but I think it is generally usable enough to get a feel for what it will be like.

Thanks,
proxy

Hi Proxy,

Thatz a nice step towards having a good disassembler & debugger on Linux.

Keep up the good work!!!

Let me know if i could be of any help.

Well, you can write plugins if you like.

Or any feedback on missing "killer features" or things that dont work quite right would also be useful.

Really whatever anyone can do to contribute in any way would be very appreciated

Thanks,
proxy

BTW: why does the forum reject any posts I make which contain an apostrophe?

any plans to use an instruction decoder that supports x86_64?

  proxy   November 26, 2006 21:32.19 CST
Support for arches besides x86 is planned, but of course will take time. Especially since the only non-x86 machine I have is an old sparc box.

However, I plan to keep this goal in mind and attempt to isolate the portions of code which make x86 assumptions, and will eventually ditch libdisasm as the disassembler since it is x86 only.

I just wanted to post an update (yea, i know it's a year and half later). But I just released version 0.9.0 which finally supports x86-64! A lot of features have been added over the past year or so. So if anyone here is interested in Linux RCE, let me know if there is anything I can do to make it better.
