The Brothers Karamazov
Huh, I spent my weekend on reading Fyodor Dostoevsky book titled "The Brothers Karamazov" and i must confess it was worth even if they will eject me from the university :) Damn, i'm still impressed, hats of to Dostoevsky. I have not seen so dark look at human's soul for a long time, moreover it's so real. From the other hand sometimes i felt like Dymitr was alike Raskolnikov ("Crime and Punishment" hero, the same author). I have read in some Polish review that Ivan Karamazov was the darkest character, i doubt, in my personal opinion Smerdyakov was th evilest mind there (what's more he's probably the 4th brother): "He told him to take a piece of bread, to stick a pin in it, and throw it to one of those hungry dogs who snap up anything without biting it, and then to watch and see what would happen." Anyway it's quite complicated book (multi level),on the first plan we can see it's all about the murder mystery, but when we go deeper we see that is about faith and God. It still goes with the great citate, “If God does not exist, then everything is permitted". What i can say more, if you don't know how to spend few dollars just buy it and read it tough :). Let me end my scriblle with some quote: "Dostoevsky gives me more than any scientist, more than Gauss." - Albert Einstein cheers, pb Comments
