Could any one please show me how to attach to a runing process using IDC?
I used "AttachProcess" API, but then the process was just hung at ntdll.dll:7C9507A8.
What should be called before and after "AttachProcess"? I use IDA Pro 5.3

AttachProcess(PID, -1); > I used "AttachProcess" API, but then the process was just hung at ntdll.dll:7C9507A8. it should be ntdll!DbgBreakPoint, it's normal. > What should be called before and after "AttachProcess"? depends on what you want to get... you can set breakpoint on API/library functions, dump memory to disk, etc. if can trace the program as well, just keep threads in mind. after attaching you're in the system thread, so select another where you will find the return address on the stack. to select another thread use: SelectThread(long tid) and GetCurrentThreadId(). you have to select to not-current thread. of course, if there is more than one threads it's kind of problem, but not really. just breakpoint all these threads.
