Forums >>  IDA Pro  >>  Any work being done on IDAPython for IDA Pro 4.9?

Topic created on: November 3, 2005 14:01 CST by slcoleman .

I read that the SDK API changed with 4.9 and also that the API is frozen. I have been wanting to try my hand at IDAPython for a number of things and then thought that I should start/learn with the latest updated version. Since I have not heard anything about the revised Python plugin should I start looking into updating it, or leave that to someone that knows more about the current implimentation? I'm not afraid to get my hands into it but since I am in IDA learning mode I'm not sure I would be the best person for testing it. Any thoughts on  what it would take to do this update for 4.9?  Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

It would take a merging the SWIG patch into IDA SDK 4.9 and checking all the changes from the previous version. There are quite a few...

Anyways, I just finished up the merging and testing of 0.8 is in progress. The IDA API is pretty large so testing all the changes for all of it is not trivial.

The 0.8 release is pretty close. Really Soon Now(tm) ;)

Dyce,

Let me know if there is anything I can help with. I may be new to IDA, and for that matter Python, but I'd be glad to lend a hand since I can tell it would be very usefull for everyone. Feel free to contact me off-line if there is anything I can do. In the mean time I'll be digging in to it during my off hours to learn how version 0.7 was done.

Thanks for all your hard work!
