iDEFENSE/VeriSign seeks a Lab Manager to manage and lead the iDefense Labs Team from our offices in Dulles, Virginia.  

The Labs Manager will manage a team of outside contractors and internal engineers whose mission is to conduct research efforts that attempt to discover zero-day exploits in common software applications and network services. He will also conduct his own research into these matters. The Labs Manager will be responsible to manage the lab hardware and physical assets and will present research findings to customers on a routine basis, to peers at select security conferences and to the press as needed.

REQUIREMENTS
* 5 + years of experience in the Information Systems, Information Security, Reverse Engineering, network or system administration.  
* 1+ years experience leading a team of technicians to a common goal.
* 1+ years running a computer lab.
* 1+ years vulnerability discovery research.
* 1+ years experience writing reports and presenting findings to an audience.
* Candidates must be self-starters, quick learners, detail-oriented and should feel comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-energy, deadline-driven environment.
* Candidates must be open to travel requirements, possess outstanding written and oral communication skills and have the ability to prioritize work.
* Candidates must recognize and deal appropriately with confidential and sensitive information and work and communicate effectively under normal and stressful situations  
* Candidate must have the ability to work as part of a team as well as independently and must work out of the Sterling, VA office. This is not a telecommuting position.  

REQUIRED SKILL SET
* In-depth knowledge of networking protocols in general and TCP/IP specifically.
* In depth Knowledge of the inner-workings of operating systems in general and UNIX & Microsoft specifically.
* In depth Knowledge of the inner-workings of SQL in general and Oracle, DB2, and mySQL specifically.
* In-depth knowledge of advanced programming concepts in data structures and algorithms.  
* In-depth knowledge of advanced programming languages such, but not limited to, C, Perl, JavaScript, PHP and Python.
* In-depth knowledge of the inner-workings of web servers in general and Apache and IIS specifically.
* In depth Knowledge of the inner-workings of general office application software at the code base level: word processors, spreadsheets, desktop databases, presentation packages, web browsers, chat clients and email clients.

DESIRED SKILL SET
* BS or MS in Computer Science, Information Science, Information Management or Electrical Engineering.
* Originality and creativity  
* Past speaking experience and publication of independent research.
