Few time ago I've started to write an hexadecimal editor with 64 bit offset support for the *nix command line to bring me the possibility to work with binary files using shellscripts or so.
It has been designed using a KiSS approach, so the extensibility is easily implemented in few lines of external scripts.
The radare package contains more utilities like hasher, binary diffing utilities (bindiff and bytediff), ptrace transparency layer, debugger support, external helpers, binary graphing utilities, xrefs (x86, ppc, arm), carver utilities, structure mapping, etc.
These last days I've been writing the graphical frontend in GTK.
Development is really active and ideas, patches, histories and donations are welcome :)
