http://ask.slashdot.org/askslashdot/06/06/12/2044245.shtml

not related to previous post , and didnt want to open up another thread , and this is another very interesting read .

i can admit that future is owned by non-native code i'm wondering what would RCE looks like those days

You know, this death of non-native code thread has been going since the birth of Java...

10 years later, I personally write nothing that's non-native.

I am definitely a hold out for good reason.  One of the primary ones is non-native code is not exactly a magical silver bullet that will suddenly end the world of ill designed and extremely poor implementation.  Anyone that thinks otherwise need only look to the past.

hasn't the death of native code been going on since LISP?

my cell phones applications are all written in java , my beloved linux distro is heavilty using python , and the next version of office suite is based on .net , sap and oracles huge and expensive products for mission critical application are mostly non-native , and presentation layer and communication layer of Vista are not native at least , and yes , this is an old topic , i didnt write anything non-native recently ;)

let's face it, we're stuck in the past : "retro-coders" !
I won't be surprised if my son only programs using punch cards ;)
