Forums >>  IDA Pro  >>  IDA Pro plugins don't work

Topic created on: January 20, 2010 08:13 CST by Cluster .

Hey there,
i am using IDA 5.5 and copied 2 plugins into the plugins directory, but when ida loads, it says incompatible plugin version, skipped.
I wanted to use IDB to sig or IDA to pat.
I have an .exe file analized, which has debugging symbols and function names and so on. There is now an newer version of that file and i wanted to get the names somehow to the newer version without names. Is there a easier solution? Why does the plugins not work?
Thanks!

Well...The error itself tells you from what I can see.  The latest version of IDB2SIG is only ported to IDA 4.9.  Now I don't play a lot with IDA plugins but I believe they are only compiled for each specific version of IDA.

From the README in the IDB2SIG download:
DEFAULT idb2sig.plw IN THIS PACKAGE IS FOR IDA 4.9!
If you want to use it with some other version of IDA you have to recompile it.

You just need the IDA Sdk and to recompile the plugin to work with your current version.

Read the README's with stuff you download ;-P

thanks for the answer. I have tried this plugins, but there are to many collisions.
I tell you again what i want. I have an executable which was built in debug version. Now i have a newer version of this same program but was linked without debug informations. Now i want to get all that functions names to the new updated version. I tried IDB2Sig but it had 800 collisions, but i need nearly every function. Any solution?

I haven't used that plugin at all.  What do you mean when you say collisions? (what's your context?)  Are you saying that the plugin runs, and you are getting multiple symbols per address?
Or are you saying you couldn't compile the plugin because there are too many "collisions"/complications?

Since I don't use the plugin, I don't know the terminology of the domain or whether you're using the terminology correctly:).

The plugin runs and works fine, but there are to many functions per pattern. There are about 5000 named function and i can only get about 1000 because of collision, many functions have the same beginning pattern.
