HI..
I posted several weeks ago in regards to reversing some embedded code. Here is where I stand:
Target: Embedded HP-UX (9.?) Motorola 68030.
Tools: IDA 5.2 on WinXP system
Here is what I have done:
1) recreated the ROM images and have verified correctness
2) Used IDA 5.2 with custom IDC to disassemble to the best of my ability.
3) I have been emailed the library files for HP-UX 9.1. These were compressed in tar.gz. format.
4) I successfully uncompressed these files and am trying to create a pattern file from the "filename.a" files. There are also some "filename.o" files as well. I cannot create the pattern file as the plb.exe tool claims that the lib files are not OMF format. They don't appear to no longer be elf/coff, etc format either.
My question, when I uncompressed the HP-UX files and save them in WinXP, have I corrupted the OMF/ELF formatting? If so what do I need to do to get a sig file built to run on my WinXP machine. This seems fundamental, but I am drawing a blank here.
If my problem is that I am using a Windows environment and not a Unix, would someone create the patter/signature file for me if I emailed the lib files?
Thanks for any help that you can offer.
Jim
